China and Indonesia to Launch QRIS Cross-Border Payments on April 30

China and Indonesia have announced the official launch of QRIS cross-border payments starting April 30, following a successful trial that processed 1.64 million transactions valued at Rp 556 billion ($32 million). According to NS3.AI, Bank Indonesia stated that the system will enable travelers in both countries to use compatible payment apps, reducing reliance on U.S. dollars. BI Deputy Governor Filianingsih Hendarta confirmed that the technical and business aspects are prepared for implementation.
