Trump Defends Data Centers As AI Industry Launches $50 Million Push

According to Axios, President Donald Trump urged Americans opposing the nation's data-center boom to accept the projects, warning on Truth Social that if they “kill the Golden Goose,” they will have only themselves to blame. Axios reported that the AI industry is responding with a more coordinated campaign, including Build American AI, an advocacy group tied to the pro-AI super PAC Leading the Future, which is preparing to spend $50 million to defend data centers in Kansas, Ohio and Wisconsin. The group is also launching a new super PAC for candidates aligned with its agenda. Axios reported that investor Gavin Baker outlined a six-part case for data centers on X that was amplified by Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and other tech leaders, while a recent Annenberg survey found 61% of Americans oppose building a new data center in their community, including 54% of Republicans.
