According to Odaily, Scott Bessent, nominated by U.S. President-elect Donald Trump for the position of Treasury Secretary, expressed his opposition to a central bank digital currency (CBDC) during a Senate Finance Committee hearing. Bessent stated that he sees no reason for the United States to issue a CBDC, suggesting that such currencies are more suited for countries lacking other investment options. Appointed by Trump as a cryptocurrency expert in late November, Bessent has shown a positive stance towards cryptocurrencies. In an interview with Fox Business, he shared his enthusiasm about the president's acceptance of cryptocurrencies.
