Ethereum Foundation Announces Closure of Holešky Testnet

According to BlockBeats, the Ethereum Foundation has announced that the Holešky testnet has reached the end of its lifecycle and will soon cease operations. Following the confirmation of the Fusaka upgrade on Holešky, the majority of remaining validator nodes will be shut down within two weeks. Subsequently, client, testing, and infrastructure teams will no longer support Holešky. The foundation stated that Holešky was launched in 2023 as Ethereum's largest public testnet, specifically designed for large-scale staking infrastructure and validator operation testing. The network successfully fulfilled its mission by assisting thousands of validators in completing protocol upgrade tests, including the Dencun network upgrade and the recent Pectra upgrade. However, after the activation of the Pectra testnet in early 2025, Holešky experienced significant inactivity leaks, leading to a surge in validator exit queues. Although the network eventually recovered and completed confirmations, the prolonged validator exit process made it impractical to complete a full validator lifecycle test within a reasonable timeframe. This directly led to the creation and launch of a new testnet, Hoodi, in March 2025, which offers a testing environment free from these limitations.
