Metaplanet Raises $13.66 Billion Through International Share Offering

According to BlockBeats, Metaplanet has announced the successful raising of approximately 204.1 billion yen (around $13.66 billion) through an international share offering. The shares were priced at 614 yen each, reflecting a discount rate of 9.93%. This issuance will add 385 million new shares, bringing the total share count to approximately 1.141 billion. The funds raised will primarily be allocated towards purchasing Bitcoin, with about 183.7 billion yen dedicated to this purpose. Since 2024, Metaplanet has adopted Bitcoin as its main reserve asset to hedge against yen depreciation and inflation risks, while also enhancing long-term corporate value. As of September 1, the company holds 20,000 BTC, valued at approximately 3.22 trillion yen. Additionally, around 20.4 billion yen will be invested in expanding Metaplanet's Bitcoin-related revenue business, particularly through Bitcoin options trading. In the second quarter of the 2025 fiscal year, the company reported related revenues of 109.4 billion yen. Metaplanet has stated its commitment to continuing strategic Bitcoin allocations, leveraging capital fundraising to increase BTC holdings and strengthen its long-term competitive position.
