According to PANews, independent researcher tanuki42 has alleged that market maker DWF Labs was targeted by the North Korea-linked threat group AppleJeus in September 2022, resulting in a loss of at least $44 million, primarily in USDC and USDT. The funds were reportedly moved cross-chain to Bitcoin and remained dormant for an extended period, with some recently flowing into the custodial mixing service Mixero.
