Base Creator Jesse Pollak Officially Joins Coinbase
Jesse Pollak, the creator of the Ethereum layer 2 blockchain Base, has announced his new role in Coinbase leadership as he takes charge of Coinbase Wallet—a strategic move that industry experts believe could significantly enhance the crypto user experience.
Pollak will continue to lead the Base team while fostering a closer relationship between Base and Coinbase Wallet, aiming to simplify the process for users to engage with blockchain technology.
Recently appointed to Coinbase's eight-member executive team, Pollak emphasized that Coinbase Wallet—a non-custodial wallet supporting hundreds of thousands of coins and thousands of decentralised applications (dApps) across multiple blockchains—will maintain its commitment to serving the entire blockchain ecosystem.
This includes support for major networks like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Avalanche, BNB Chain, and Fantom Opera, all in pursuit of the goal to bring billions of users onchain.
Pollak's new position follows the departure of Coinbase's engineering vice president, Manish Gupta, as noted by the firm's president and COO, Emilie Choi.
Pollak's Addition May Be a Good Thing for Coinbase Wallet
Industry experts speculate that Pollak's efforts with Base and now Coinbase Wallet could significantly enhance a crucial factor that has hindered cryptocurrency adoption: user experience (UX).
Jacob Horne, a founder at media-focused blockchain Zora, said:
“A cohesive pairing of Coinbase Wallet and Base likely means a level up of the overall UX of the industry.”
Notably, pseudonymous crypto analyst Altcoin Psycho shared his enthusiasm with his 505,000 followers on X (formerly known as Twitter):
“The ultimate goal of merging offchain and onchain UX/UI by leveraging Base, Coinbase Advanced, and Coinbase Wallet fills me with optimism for mass adoption.”
