Revolo Intel CEO Robbed at Gunpoint, Resigns Thereafter
Nick Drakon, CEO of the crypto research and education platform Revelo Intel, has resigned after a harrowing incident where he was held at gunpoint and forced to transfer personal, company, and investor funds.
In a 5 September post on X (formerly known as Twitter), Drakon disclosed that a sophisticated group targeted him, threatening his family and demanding access to his crypto assets.
The thieves made off with his personal funds, Revelo's working capital, retained earnings, and assets from Revelo Ventures, the company's investment arm.
Drakon revealed that the attackers were aware of specific crypto addresses linked to his businesses and even threatened his wife and eight-month-old son.
He also suggested that there is evidence indicating possible involvement from someone within Revelo Ventures, though he has chosen not to share further details to protect his family and the integrity of the ongoing investigation.
Drakon said:
“The vast majority of stolen funds belonged to me personally. There is some evidence to suggest that someone in the Ventures syndicate is either part of the group, or passing information onto them.”
Vu Benson, the former Chief Operating Officer, will now take over as CEO of Revelo Intel.
Drakon has relinquished his stake in the company to help return some of the stolen funds to Revelo Ventures members and has pledged that 30% of Revelo’s profits will be allocated to those affected.
He expressed deep regret for the circumstances that made him a target and apologised to the Revelo Ventures members who suffered losses.
Drakon remains focused on assisting law enforcement and recovering the stolen assets.
Was the Robbery the Result of Wealth Flaunting?
Drakon's resignation comes on the heels of a recent incident in Ukraine where four suspects kidnapped and murdered a foreign national, stealing $170,000 in Bitcoin.
His departure highlights the increasing risks faced by public figures in the crypto space.
Drakon has stated his intention to step away from the public eye to focus on his family's safety and reassess his future.
But why was he targeted?
Did he inadvertently attract attention by flaunting his wealth, or is there something more beneath the surface?
