Nintendo recently submitted a mysterious new wireless device to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), but it’s not the highly anticipated Switch 2 console expected before next April. The device, labeled as model CLO-001, hints at a new product line, as suggested by its “001” designation, similar to the original Switch (HAC-001) and DS (NTR-001) consoles.
Interestingly, it’s only described as a "wireless device," not a "wireless game console" or controller like the Joy-Con. A simple diagram included in the filing shows where the FCC label will be placed—on the bottom of a device with a square shape and rounded corners.
The documents reveal that the device doesn’t involve any body-worn accessories, lacks a battery, and only operates when plugged in. During testing, it was powered using the same USB-C charger that comes with Nintendo Switch consoles, indicating it can be powered via USB-C.
Notably, the CLO-001 has minimal wireless capabilities, lacking 5GHz or 6GHz Wi-Fi radios and Bluetooth. However, it features a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi radio and a 24GHz mmWave sensor.
