A man was arrested at a rally for former President Donald Trump in Coachella, California, for carrying an unlicensed shotgun and a loaded handgun.
The Riverside County Sheriff's Office confirmed the arrest on 13 October. The suspect, identified as 49-year-old Vem Miller from Las Vegas, was taken into custody near a checkpoint while driving a black SUV.
He has since been released on bail and is scheduled to appear in court on 2 January.
The arrest coincided with a spike in the FIGHT meme coin, which surged over 10% following the incident. However, the price later adjusted to $0.0006797.
The US Secret Service is aware of the arrest and reported that both Trump and the attendees were not in any danger during the incident. Investigations are ongoing, though no federal arrests have been made.

This incident follows two earlier assassination attempts against Trump, one in Pennsylvania and another at a golf course in Florida. Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco, a Trump supporter, remarked on the unpredictability of such threats, implying that further preventative measures may have been warranted.
Bianco stated that Miller's vehicle contained multiple passports and various forms of identification under different names. He added that any additional charges would be determined by federal authorities.
Trump’s decision to hold a rally in California, a Democrat stronghold, surprised political analysts but attracted a considerable crowd.
Meanwhile, Vice President Kamala Harris delivered a speech at a predominantly Black church in North Carolina, indirectly criticising Trump for spreading misinformation regarding hurricane response efforts.
Harris did not name Trump directly but highlighted his prominent role in circulating false statements about the Biden administration's handling of Hurricanes Milton and Helen.
Recent polling by AP-NORC indicates that Black registered voters view Harris favourably while maintaining a negative perception of Trump, despite his attempts to reach out to non-white voters. Many Black voters, however, remain uncertain about Harris's ability to improve their lives.
In Florida, President Biden has been active in response to the storm damage caused by Hurricane Helen, announcing $612 million in funding for energy projects in the affected areas. This includes significant grants to local utility companies.
Biden has urged Congress to swiftly provide adequate funding for disaster relief through the Small Business Administration and FEMA, as the Atlantic hurricane season approaches its end on 30 November. He estimated that Hurricane Milton alone could result in approximately $50 billion in damages.
