Brian Armstrong, CEO of Coinbase, has recently tied the knot with Angela Meng, a former South China Morning Post reporter and investment banker.
Armstrong made the announcement on his social account twitter, with photos of his wedding and a caption that says
"I got married this past weekend to my long term partner and best friend, Angela Meng. Can't wait to build a life together."
It is rumoured that this is Armstrong's second marriage, with several reports claiming that Armstrong was previously married to Raline Shah, a popular Indonesian actress who has over 10 million followers on Instagram.
Shah was also an entrepreneur who runs multiple businesses and is known for her philanthropy work.
But Armstrong had denied the rumours that he was previously married by calling it misinformation.
Who is Angela Meng?
The emergence of Anglela Meng has aroused great curiosity about her, especially her asian identity.
Some have even compared Angela Meng with the co-founder of Binance, He Yi.
Although Angela Meng has no records of being involved in the crypto field, everyone can't help but speculate if she might become Brian Armstrong's next right-hand man or would she just continue her career as a journalist in the crypto industry?
Meng was born and raised in China, before migrating to the United States at the age of 11. It was believed that she came from a working class family, and through her hardwork she entered UCLA.
After graduating from college, she worked in the investment banking department of Lazard in New York, and then worked in the South China Morning Post, Phoenix Daily and GEN magazine.
Because of her outstanding appearance, Angela was discovered by a scout and began a four-year modeling career. She worked as a model for Elite Model management and LA Models, often participated in photo shoots, and attended art events.
Saying no to adulthood
In 2021 at nearly 30 years old, Angela Meng ushered in what she would call the "30 year old anxiety."
In her article titled "Don't make me 30", she expressed her frustration at entering a whole new phase of life where she is forced to give up many of the things she loved in the past.
But she is still not ready to give up her vibrant nightlife lifestyle; till date she could still be seen at nightclubs wearing polyester miniskirts and four-inch high heels and shouting loudly in front of the DJ booth.
While her friends are all taking on mortgages and making pension plans, Angela prefers to live in the moment and spend her endless social capital unscrupulously on designer bags and champagne.
Pivotal point for Coinbase
Armstrong's wedding comes at a pivotal time for Coinbase and the broader cryptocurrency industry.
Earlier this year, Armstrong stressed the importance of a bipartisan approach to cryptocurrency regulation.
