WoW Partners with Artist Sara Baumann to Celebrate Women in Web3
World of Women (WoW), a project dedicated to promoting gender equality in the Web3 space, has launched a new NFT portrait series with artist Sara Baumann celebrating female pioneers in decentralised technology.
This artistic initiative, launching on the Etherlink network on Tezos, aims to honour these influential figures while promoting greater visibility for women in the technology space.
Reimagining Female Leaders as Western Pioneers
This series offers a fresh twist by reimagining influential women in Web3 as bold pioneers of the Western frontier.
The artwork portrays figures like Jill Gunter from Espresso Systems, Winny.eth from Chipped, Evin McMullen of Privado ID, and Tina He from Base.
These portraits not only celebrate their achievements but also reflect the resilience and determination needed to succeed in a male-dominated industry.
As Sara Baumann puts it,
“These portraits are more than likenesses—they tell the story of women who refuse to wait for permission to build the future."
Addressing Gender Imbalance in Web3
WoW's project sheds light on the concerning gender gap that still exists in the Web3 sector.
According to WoW, only 7% of Web3 startups are led by women, and female founders secure just 25% of the funding compared to their male counterparts.
This disparity is a key motivator behind the series, aiming to encourage more women to step into the Web3 space.
Accessible Minting to Promote Inclusion
To ensure that the NFT series is accessible to as many people as possible, the portraits will be minted for free on the Etherlink Layer 2 network on Tezos.
WoW has taken this step to eliminate financial barriers and provide a seamless experience for women interested in blockchain.
The project also highlights WoW’s broader mission to foster economic inclusion in the digital world.
WoW’s CEO, Taisia Antonova, says,
"When women only represent 15% of investment teams, and women raise far less capital, we must create new opportunities."
Launching at ETHDenver 2025 with Key Events
The series will officially launch at ETHDenver 2025, a major event for blockchain innovation.
It will feature key activities, including the SheFi Summit on February 26, which will include panels, networking, and activations.
A printed portrait gallery exhibition will also be hosted at the Nolcha Shows Opening Party on the same day.
WoW’s Continued Commitment to Empowerment
WoW’s collaboration with Baumann is part of a larger movement aimed at empowering women in the Web3 and blockchain industries.
The organisation has previously deployed $3 million to nonprofit initiatives and supported over 500 artists.
Additionally, WoW has built strategic partnerships with global brands like Hasbro, Billboard Magazine, and Jazwares, while gaining celebrity supporters such as Reese Witherspoon and Gwyneth Paltrow.
Free Minting to Encourage Women’s Engagement with Crypto
Minting for the NFT series will begin on February 25 on AFFC.club, with all transaction costs covered by WoW.
This is part of their ongoing efforts to make blockchain and NFTs more inclusive for women, especially those who have historically been sidelined in the tech space.
As WoW gains more momentum with appearances at events like NFT Paris and NFC Lisbon in June, the initiative continues to show the organisation’s dedication to closing the gender gap in the Web3 space.
