Tokyo's iconic Skytree landmark is set to reopen today following a thorough inspection of its elevators. According to RTHK, the incident occurred last Sunday evening when 20 tourists were trapped inside an elevator for approximately five and a half hours. Subsequently, Skytree was closed for three days to conduct a comprehensive examination.
The company operating Skytree held a press conference to address the situation, revealing that the malfunction was caused by damage to the wiring connecting the control panel to the elevator body. The company assured that all other elevators have been confirmed safe, allowing Skytree to resume operations from Thursday morning.
