India has alleviated concerns about potential energy crises due to the current global energy situation, according to high-level government sources. According to Jin10, India currently holds over 250 million barrels of crude oil and petroleum products, providing a buffer stock for approximately 7-8 weeks across the supply chain. These reserves are not stored in a single location or form but are distributed across ground tanks, underground strategic caverns, pipeline systems, terminal tanks, offshore storage vessels in transit, and three dedicated strategic petroleum reserve facilities located in Mangalore, Padur, and Visakhapatnam.
Official sources indicate that India's stocks of crude oil, gasoline, diesel, aviation fuel, liquefied petroleum gas, and liquefied natural gas are sufficient to handle short-term supply disruptions while continuing to source energy from multiple global suppliers. The sources further clarified that claims of global oil supply cessation or India having only 25 days of reserves are inaccurate and do not reflect the actual supply and inventory status.
