The statement highlighted expectations for a reduction in regional tensions, following remarks from U.S. President Donald Trump and the Iranian President. The PUK has provided the central government in Baghdad with a list of individuals and entities involved in recent attacks on the Iraqi Kurdistan region, urging Baghdad to take effective measures. The statement further emphasized that if the central government fails to act, the Kurdistan region will "take action independently." Established in 1975, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan is one of the two major ruling parties in the Iraqi Kurdistan region.
