Iran has intensified its attacks on energy targets in the Middle East, with two oil tankers set ablaze in Iraqi waters, resulting in at least one death and the rescue of 38 individuals. According to RTHK, Iraqi port officials reported that the attacked tankers were flying the flags of the Marshall Islands and Malta. Rescue teams recovered the body of a foreign crew member from the water. Preliminary investigations suggest that speedboats carrying explosives targeted the tankers. Following the incident, all Iraqi oil ports have temporarily ceased operations.
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations reported that a cargo ship near the Strait of Hormuz was hit by an unidentified projectile, causing a fire, though all crew members are reportedly safe.
In Bahrain, Iran attacked oil and fuel tanks near the international airport, igniting a fire and prompting authorities to advise residents to close their windows. Meanwhile, in Oman, firefighters are still working to control a blaze at a fuel storage tank in the port of Salalah, which was attacked yesterday.
