Kelp DAO suffered a significant loss of $292 million due to a hack on Saturday. According to NS3.AI, preliminary findings by LayerZero suggest that the attack was carried out by TraderTraitor, a subgroup of North Korea's Lazarus Group. Kelp DAO attributed the exploit to a failure in LayerZero's infrastructure. LayerZero explained that Kelp DAO had used a single verifier configuration to approve cross-chain messages, which may have contributed to the vulnerability.
This incident, combined with the $285 million Drift exploit, has brought the total suspected North Korea-linked crypto theft to at least $578 million across major incidents in April.
