North American Blue Energy Partners To Take Over Some Venezuela Oilfields

According to CNBC, U.S. oil company North American Blue Energy Partners will take over some oilfields previously controlled by five Chinese companies and a Russian firm under a broader oil production agreement announced by President Donald Trump with Venezuela. Two U.S. officials said the projects are among 14 contracts newly granted to the company, which is expected to control 17 projects in Venezuela and eventually use them to supply oil to the U.S. The officials said five of the 14 contracts had been operated by Chinese companies, one by a Russian company, two by China Concord Resources, one by Sinopec and one by China National Petroleum Corp, while two others were run by affiliates of Alex Saab and another was linked to a nephew of Cilia Flores. The officials also said talks between Venezuela's interim authorities and representatives of the 2015 National Assembly are aimed at restoring constitutional order and addressing legal questions around the country's transition.
