House To Vote On Censure Of Rep. Chuck Edwards Over Sexual Harassment Findings

According to Axios, the House is set to vote Tuesday on censuring Rep. Chuck Edwards, R-N.C., after the House Ethics Committee found he violated chamber rules on sexual harassment and recommended censure. House Speaker Mike Johnson has deferred to the committee, and GOP leadership is not whipping the vote, leaving Republicans to decide individually whether to punish Edwards, who has denied wrongdoing and abandoned his reelection campaign this month. The House is also returning to session amid allegations of domestic violence against Rep. Max Miller, R-Ohio, who denies the claims, and an Ethics Committee investigation into Rep. Cory Mills, R-Fla., over allegations of domestic abuse, stolen valor and financial misconduct, which he also denies. Separately, the committee opened an investigation this month into Rep. Jimmy Gomez, D-Calif., over allegations of sexual misconduct. Democrats and Republicans are expected to unveil a legislative package in the coming weeks aimed at sexual misconduct on Capitol Hill, including possible changes to reporting systems, retaliation protections, training resources and a ban on lawmaker-staff relationships.
