Hua Medicine said its core diabetes drug Hatuoning, or dorzagliatin, generated 379 million yuan in net sales in the first half of 2026, up 74% year on year, as sales reached 3.055 million boxes, according to Jiemian News. The company also reported gross profit of about 234 million yuan and a pretax loss of 30.2 million yuan, while guiding for profitability in 2027.
Jiemian News reported that Hua Medicine's 2026 interim results showed Hatuoning remained its only commercial product. The drug was approved in China in 2022, entered China's national reimbursement list at the end of 2023 and began reimbursement in 2024. Hua Medicine said its patent term extension was approved by China's National Intellectual Property Administration in February 2026, extending core patent protection to April 2034.
The company said Hatuoning's sales rose after it took back full China commercialization rights from Bayer on January 1, 2025. By the end of 2025, Hua Medicine had built a nationwide sales team of 130 representatives and more than 50 staff in marketing, medical affairs and commercial operations; by June 30, 2026, the sales force had expanded to 187 representatives. Hua Medicine said Hatuoning's gross margin rose to 61.8% in the first half of 2026 from 56.9% in 2025 and 48.7% in 2024.
