According to PANews, the United Kingdom is exploring the use of nuclear energy for the construction of artificial intelligence data centers, with the first site planned at Culham, home to the UK Atomic Energy Authority. The UK government is set to establish an energy committee comprising government and private officials to investigate powering data centers with small modular reactors that rely on nuclear fission technology. Vantage Data Centers has announced plans to invest over £12 billion ($14.6 billion) in data centers across the UK as part of this initiative. Another data center company, Nscale, plans to invest $2.5 billion over the next three years. The Labour Party, led by Keir Starmer, has made artificial intelligence a central part of its economic agenda but has faced criticism for slow policy rollout and confusing early announcements.
