According to Odaily, Indian government officials have indicated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is preparing to further reduce tariffs before meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump. This move aims to boost U.S. exports to India and prevent a potential trade conflict. As Modi plans to visit the United States on Wednesday and Thursday, Trump is set to announce reciprocal tariffs on several countries to reshape global trade relations in favor of the U.S. Although Trump has not specified which countries will be affected, he previously labeled India as a 'serious abuser' of trade relations and emphasized that India should purchase more American security equipment to foster fair bilateral trade. India is considering lowering tariffs in at least a dozen sectors, including electronics, medical and surgical equipment, and certain chemicals, to enhance U.S. exports.
