Illinois primary results were released on the evening of March 17th, local time. The crypto industry, through the super PAC Fairshake, invested over $13 million in the state elections, with nearly $10 million allocated to opposing Lieutenant Governor Juliana Stratton's Senate candidacy, and over $3 million to two campaigns targeting candidates who support cryptocurrency consumer protection regulations. The AI industry invested approximately $2.5 million in the two House elections. In the 7th District, despite nearly $5 million from the pro-Israel lobbying group AIPAC and nearly $2.5 million from the crypto industry PAC Fairshake, Representative La Shawn Ford, who supports consumer protection regulations, defeated his opponent to win the nomination. In the 2nd District, Cook County Commissioner Donna Miller, supported by AIPAC, defeated former Representative Jesse Jackson Jr., supported by the AI industry PAC. In the 8th district, former Representative Melissa Bean, who received support from AIPAC and the crypto/AI industry PAC, defeated progressive candidate Junaid Ahmed. This Illinois primary involved five House seats and one Senate seat, with outside groups contributing over $50 million in total, of which over $35 million was spent on AIPAC, crypto, and AI industry-related spending.
