On April 21, Hong Kong's major stock indices showed mixed performance during the morning session. According to Jin10, the Hang Seng Tech Index fell by 0.74% by midday, while the Hang Seng Index saw a slight increase of 0.13%. Notably, tech giants such as Alibaba (09988.HK), Tencent Holdings (00700.HK), and Xiaomi Group (01810.HK) opened higher but declined as the session progressed. By the midday close, Alibaba had dropped 1.3%.
In contrast, new consumer concept stocks experienced significant gains. Shanghai Auntie (02589.HK) surged over 17% during the session, with Mixue Group (02097.HK) and Guming (01364.HK) also rising. Leading lithium battery company CATL (03750.HK) showed strong performance, climbing over 6% at one point and reaching a new all-time high.
Meanwhile, stocks in the biopharmaceutical sector, Chinese brokerage firms, and robotics concept stocks mostly remained subdued.
