Blockchain Chat App OpenChat Launches 'Community' Feature

The app's development team first announced the "communities" feature in February. OpenChat co-founder Julian Jeffs said the community will eventually allow encrypted protocols to build communities directly from their own websites, eliminating the need to download external programs such as Discord or Telegram. (Cointelegraph) As previously reported, OpenChat, a decentralized chat application based on the DFINITY Internet Computer, raised more than $5.5 million in a crowdfunding sale. New funds raised from the token “decentralized sale” will be held in OpenChat’s DAO Treasury, and token holders will decide how to best utilize them, the team said. The platform will allow users to vote directly on new proposals for upgrades, features, and Treasury fund allocations through the Service Nervous System (SNS), a governance system model used on computers on the Internet.
