An American crypto investor is suspected of kidnapping and torturing an Italian businessman in New York in an attempt to obtain his financial account passwords

Odaily Planet Daily News: John Woeltz, a 37-year-old American cryptocurrency investor, and a 24-year-old suspected female accomplice were accused of illegally detaining and torturing a 28-year-old Italian businessman in a high-end apartment in Manhattan, New York, for more than two weeks in an attempt to obtain the password of his financial account. The victim arrived in New York on May 6 and met with John Woeltz, with whom he had business dealings. He was then deprived of his passport and subjected to electric shocks, drug coercion, chainsaw threats and other abuses. It is reported that the police found several Polaroid photos of the victim being tied up and tortured at the scene, as well as guns, chainsaws and other tools. The victim finally escaped and called the police on May 23. John Woeltz was charged with multiple crimes including first-degree kidnapping, illegal detention, assault and illegal possession of weapons. (The Block)
