Dollar Index Surges Amid Rising Safe-Haven Demand

The dollar index has surpassed the 100 mark for the first time since November last year, climbing over 0.3% and extending its gains for the fourth consecutive day. According to RTHK, analysts predict that the dollar index may continue its upward trend for a second consecutive week. The yield on the U.S. 10-year Treasury note recently rose to nearly 4.28%. Additionally, the dollar strengthened against the yen, approaching the 160 yen level, with a recent report showing it at 159.38 yen. The ongoing conflict in the Middle East has prompted a shift of funds from risk assets like stocks into safe-haven assets such as the dollar and U.S. Treasuries. Market concerns are growing over the potential for a sharp rise in energy prices to significantly increase inflation, which could lead to major central banks raising interest rates within the year.
