According to CoinDesk, the importance of developers in the blockchain industry is being highlighted with an in-person hackathon event. This event is being organized by CoinDesk in collaboration with EasyA, a Web3 learning app with a rapidly growing developer community. The hackathon aims to attract the world's best developers to work on leading blockchains over a three-day period.
The hackathon, named the EasyA Consensus Hackathon, is set to take place at the same location as the Consensus conference. Developers from across the globe, including those from EasyA's community known as 'gigabrains', have been invited to apply. Thousands have already shown interest in participating in the event, indicating a high level of excitement within the developer community.
The stakes for the hackathon are high, with the top 500 developers competing for over $200,000 in prize money, as well as the potential for millions more in grants and venture capital funding. The ultimate goal of the event is not only to attract the best developers but also to encourage the creation of long-lasting projects across the participating ecosystems.
Previous participants in EasyA events have gone on to establish projects valued at over $2.5 billion and have secured funding from top venture capital firms such as a16z, Founders Fund, and YC. For instance, Cognition AI, founded by EasyA hackathon winner Walden Yan, was recently valued at $2 billion. Walden initially pitched his idea for DALLE on the blockchain at an EasyA hackathon at Harvard, and two years later, he has built a transformative company.
Developers interested in participating in the hackathon are encouraged to apply to secure one of the remaining spots at the EasyA Consensus hackathon. The event is a unique opportunity for developers to be part of Consensus history by participating in its first ever in-person hackathon.
