XRP Sentiment Remains Strong Amid Crypto Market Decline

XRP has maintained a relatively strong sentiment on social media despite a downturn in the crypto market, which has seen Bitcoin nearing $70,000. According to Cointelegraph, Santiment reported on Wednesday that XRP is experiencing a more optimistic outlook among traders on social media, even as Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) have turned extremely bearish following a significant downswing. Santiment's Positive/Negative sentiment indicator, which assesses the ratio of positive to negative social media mentions for a crypto asset, shows XRP with a score of 2.19. This is 103% higher than Ethereum's score of 1.08 and 173% higher than Bitcoin's score of 0.80. Over the past week, Bitcoin and Ethereum prices have decreased by 4.97% and 4.92%, respectively, according to CoinMarketCap. XRP, however, has experienced a larger decline, falling by 6.82% during the same period. Swyftx lead analyst Pav Hundal told Cointelegraph on Wednesday that XRP holders tend to handle volatility differently. He noted that XRP does not move wildly outside the bounds of the rest of the market, suggesting that XRP holders have an unwavering faith in the asset's fundamentals, making them less skeptical during downturns. In the short term, a "relief rally" may be on the horizon. Hundal mentioned that the coming weeks appear challenging, highlighting that XRP is still down 35.5% over the past 30 days. Santiment suggested that the current fearful sentiment might lead to a market upside, arguing that there is a strong case for a short-term relief rally as long as small traders continue to show disbelief toward cryptocurrency as a whole. Alternative.me's Crypto Fear & Greed Index, which gauges overall crypto market sentiment, recorded an "Extreme Fear" score of 12, the lowest since December 16, indicating extreme caution among investors. The notion of a "full-blown crypto winter" potentially nearing its end is supported by other indicators. The CoinMarketCap Altcoin Season Index is currently in "Bitcoin Season" at 32 out of 100, suggesting that investors continue to favor Bitcoin over riskier cryptocurrencies. Bitwise chief investment officer Matt Hougan stated in an X post on Tuesday that "Crypto Twitter" has only recently realized the extent of the crypto winter, which has been ongoing since January 2025. Hougan believes that the market is likely closer to the end of this period than the beginning.
