UK to Deploy Aircraft Carrier Group in North Atlantic

The UK Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, announced that the country will deploy an aircraft carrier group in the North Atlantic and High North regions this year. According to RTHK, the HMS Prince of Wales will be part of this deployment, working alongside the United States, Canada, and other NATO allies to demonstrate a strong commitment to Euro-Atlantic security. Speaking at the Munich Security Conference, Sunak described Europe as a 'sleeping giant' with significant defense capabilities that often lack cohesion. He emphasized that Russia has shown a desire for aggression, and Europe must be prepared to defend itself. Sunak also stated that the UK is no longer the same country it was at the time of Brexit, asserting that the security of Europe and the UK are interdependent. He reaffirmed the UK's commitment to fulfilling its collective defense obligations as a NATO member.
