Germany's Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy, Peter Altmaier, has warned of a potential energy shortage if the conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran continues. According to RTHK, Altmaier, speaking at an energy conference in Texas, emphasized that such a shortage could occur between late April and early May. He also criticized the phasing out of nuclear energy as a significant mistake and highlighted liquefied natural gas as a crucial solution to address the energy shortfall.
Additionally, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier condemned the military actions by the United States and Israel against Iran, labeling them as clear violations of international law and a grave political error. During an event, Steinmeier remarked that since U.S. President Donald Trump began his second term, transatlantic relations have deteriorated, leading to a loss of political trust in the United States among allies and globally.
