Polish Parliament Advances Crypto Asset Market Bill Despite Presidential Veto

According to ChainCatcher, the Polish Sejm has once again passed the Crypto Asset Market Bill, previously vetoed by President Karol Nawrocki, and forwarded it to the Senate for further review. On Thursday, the bill received approval from 241 members of parliament, maintaining the same content as the version that was vetoed. The legislation aims to align Polish law with the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA). However, critics argue that it exceeds EU standards by granting extensive enforcement powers to the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (KNF), including website blocking and imposing fines amounting to millions of zloty. President Nawrocki had vetoed the bill citing concerns over vague legal terms, excessive regulation, and high compliance costs, warning that certain provisions could harm small businesses and enable "one-click" domain shutdowns. Despite opposition, Prime Minister Donald Tusk's government resubmitted the bill without any amendments. Following Senate review, the bill may face another presidential veto.
