Powerful Earthquake Strikes Near Indonesia, Tsunami Warnings Issued

A 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck near the Indonesian coast at 6:48 a.m., according to the United States Geological Survey. According to RTHK, the quake's epicenter was located at a depth of 10 kilometers. The U.S. Tsunami Warning Center has indicated that some coastal areas of Indonesia could experience tsunamis ranging from 0.3 to 1 meter. Additionally, coastal regions within a 1,000-kilometer radius of the epicenter, including parts of Indonesia, the Philippines, and Malaysia, may be affected by the tsunami. The Hong Kong Observatory recorded a 7.4 magnitude earthquake in the northern Molucca Sea, with the epicenter situated approximately 160 kilometers east of Manado.
