CME Group Reports Growth In Cryptocurrency Futures Trading

According to PANews, CME Group, a leading derivatives marketplace, released its market statistics for January 2025, revealing a total of 27.5 million contracts traded on its platform. The average daily volume (ADV) saw a year-over-year increase of 2%. In the cryptocurrency sector, CME Group reported 198,000 cryptocurrency contracts in January, with a nominal value of $13.6 billion. Notably, the average daily volume of micro Bitcoin futures contracts surged by 255% year-over-year to 84,000 contracts. Similarly, micro Ethereum futures contracts experienced a 223% increase in average daily volume, reaching 69,000 contracts.
