Atlanta Fed President Bostic Weighs Future Rate Cuts Amid Economic Challenges

According to Odaily, Atlanta Federal Reserve Bank President Raphael Bostic has indicated uncertainty about supporting another interest rate cut next month, despite backing the recent two reductions. Speaking at an event in Seattle on Friday, Bostic stated, "I was comfortable with the first two rate cuts, but as for the next one, we will have to wait and see. I want to rely on data to determine the most appropriate policy." Federal Reserve officials are currently divided on whether to continue cutting rates next month. This year, the Fed has reduced rates by a total of 50 basis points. Futures market pricing suggests that investors see a slightly less than 50% chance of another 25 basis point cut at the December 9-10 meeting. Bostic highlighted the challenging current situation, noting that "neither aspect of our dual mandate—employment and inflation—is moving towards the target." Earlier this week, he remarked that inflation remains a "more clear and pressing risk" in the economy.
