A woman in France has died from invasive meningococcal disease, with local health authorities stating that there is currently no connection between this case and the outbreak in the United Kingdom. According to RTHK, the woman was employed at a factory in the Normandy region. The company has identified approximately 50 individuals who may have been in contact with her. These individuals will undergo a 48-hour preventive antibiotic treatment and will be monitored at home for 10 days.
Recently, an outbreak of invasive meningococcal disease has been reported in Kent, United Kingdom, with at least 29 cases and two fatalities. The situation in France remains under investigation as health officials work to prevent further spread of the disease.
