A U.S. federal court has sentenced Marlon Ferro to 78 months in prison for his involvement in a social engineering scheme that resulted in the theft of over $250 million in cryptocurrency assets. According to NS3.AI, the Department of Justice announced that Ferro will also serve three years of supervised release and must pay $2.5 million in restitution after pleading guilty to racketeering conspiracy. Prosecutors revealed that Ferro participated in breaking into homes to steal hardware wallets when other members of the group were unable to deceive victims or hack into their accounts.
