Two Killed In Times Square Stabbing After NYPD Shoots Suspect

According to the BBC, a 32-year-old woman and the suspect were killed after a stabbing in Times Square, New York City, late on Wednesday afternoon. New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani said a second victim is in stable condition and thanked NYPD officers for preventing the attack from becoming worse. New York Police Department Commissioner Jessica Tisch said the incident was an unprovoked double stabbing that unfolded in about 20 seconds. Police said the NYPD call center received several 911 calls at about 16:24 local time reporting a woman armed with two knives stabbing people along Seventh Avenue near West 41st Street. The suspect, later identified as 49-year-old Pamela Cisneros of Queens, was shot by officers after they tried for four minutes to get her to drop the weapons. Tisch said Cisneros had a documented mental health history with the NYPD, with incidents in 2018 and 2019.
