BCC Raises UK 2026 GDP Forecast to 1% as Investment Weakness Weighs on Growth

The British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) said the UK economy proved more resilient than expected in the first half of the year, but weak business investment will constrain growth in the second half of 2026 and in 2027, according to Jiemian News. The BCC now expects UK GDP to grow 1% in 2026, up from a previous forecast of 0.9%. It also cut its year-end consumer price index forecast to 3.6% from 3.8%, and said unemployment will reach 5% by the end of 2026 and 5.4% in 2027.
