According to Decrypt, startup Avail has announced the beta launch of its AI-powered script summary platform, designed to help film and television producers quickly assess scripts for potential projects. Built on OpenAI's GPT-4, the platform claims to offer minimal hallucinations, easy document scanning without user data training, no length limits, and high security. A subscription to the service costs $250 per month after a 30-day free trial, with a standalone paid ChatGPT plan available for $20 a month. Avail CEO Chris Giliberti stated that the platform aims to increase script readers' output tenfold, similar to how Excel revolutionized accounting in the 1980s.
Despite the AI assistance, Giliberti acknowledged that script analysis still requires human judgment. The platform aims to give script readers more time for deep thinking work involved in assessing the creative quality and potential of submissions. Avail is also working with partners like Range Media Group to develop a comprehensive suite of tools for the executive side of the entertainment industry, focusing on budgeting, production planning, and business affairs insights. Investors in Avail include venture capitalist Alexis Ohanian, General Catalyst, Advancit Capital, and Liontree.
