Anurag Arjun, founder of modular blockchain Avail, said on the X platform that a common misunderstanding is that blockchains like Avail that focus on data availability (DA) services will not store data for a long time. This view is wrong.
Anurag explained that Avail currently has no plans to prune data. Based on the block size of 2 MB at the creation of the network, Avail will increase its data size by approximately 2.8 TB per year, which is completely feasible from a cost perspective. Of course, you can save storage costs by pruning data, but the cost is not too high in the first place, and the computational cost will not change much as the block size increases to 4, 8, or 16 MB.
