According to Decrypt, Pixels browser game founder Luke Barwikowski has warned fans to be cautious of scammers ahead of the PIXEL token launch. Barwikowski stated on Twitter that the launch will not be a surprise and that players will have at least three days' advance notice. This will allow those with Ronin's RON token staked to unstake or unlock their tokens. Crypto scams have been a persistent issue across social media platforms, with bot commenters spamming fake airdrops and gold checkmark accounts impersonating brands.
Barwikowski aims to ensure that Pixels players are aware of the difference between genuine announcements and potential scams. Pixels will have two in-game currencies: BERRY and PIXEL. BERRY, the primary cryptocurrency, is already live on the Ronin blockchain, while PIXEL, the premium currency, has not yet been launched. PIXEL can be used in-game to mint new land NFTs, accelerate build times, boost character energy, unlock experience, crafting recipes, pets, and character skins, according to the game's whitepaper. BERRY, on the other hand, is a soft currency that can be earned by selling in-game resources and used to purchase some in-game items.
