The U.S. Virginia Senate Finance and Appropriations Committee’s General Government Subcommittee recommended $39,240 for two new cryptocurrency and artificial intelligence committees.
The Blockchain and Cryptocurrency Committee, tasked with studying distributed ledger technology and expanding its use in the state, will receive $17,192 in general funding in 2025 and 2026; the Communications, Technology and Innovation Committee focused on artificial intelligence $22,048 will be funded during the same time period.
The proposed funding is understood to be part of a $23.6 million funding proposal across departments. (The Block)
