Man Recovers Lost Bitcoin Wallet Password With Researchers' Help

According to Foresight News, two researchers have assisted a man in recovering the lost password to his cryptocurrency wallet. The wallet contained 43.6 Bitcoins, which are currently valued at approximately $2.96 million. The man, named Michael, established a cryptocurrency wallet at some point in 2013 and used RoboForm to create a unique password. For security reasons, Michael stored the password in an encrypted file, rather than in RoboForm. However, when the encrypted file was damaged, Michael no longer had access to the 20-character password required to access the 43.6 Bitcoins in his wallet. Although Michael could not recall exactly when he created his password, the researchers noted that he transferred Bitcoins into his wallet on April 13, 2013. They used specific time parameters and tested numerous passwords until they found the correct one, which was created on May 15, 2013. As a token of gratitude, Michael transferred a portion of the Bitcoins to the two researchers. He also sold a small portion, leaving him with 30 Bitcoins, valued at approximately $2 million. Michael has stated that he plans to hold onto his Bitcoins until the value of a single token reaches $100,000.
