Immutable, the Web3 gaming platform, has entered a strategic alliance with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to broaden the horizons for game developers.
This collaboration is part of AWS's ongoing expansion of its start-up accelerator programme.

Immutable's integration into AWS's ISV (Independent Software Vendors) Accelerate Programme, a roster of companies providing software solutions that either run on or seamlessly integrate with AWS, was formally announced through a blog post.
Furthermore, game developers keen on harnessing Immutable's blockchain capabilities can gain access to AWS Activate, a programme offering a spectrum of benefits, including technical support, training, and $100,000 worth of AWS cloud credits.
At the heart of this partnership lies the convergence of cloud data with the Ethereum blockchain.
Amazon Web Services Head of Startups John Kearney
John Kearney, AWS Head of Startups in Australia and New Zealand, emphasised Immutable's journey from a local Australian startup to a global player, showcasing AWS's commitment to fostering Web3 game development using its infrastructure.
John Kearney stated in the blog post:
“Today, web3 gaming is one of the fastest growing sub-sectors of the blockchain industry and is already enjoyed by millions of gamers worldwide.”"
Immutable itself has been architected with Amazon EventBridge and AWS Lambda, both serverless services designed to connect various application components through events.
This technological foundation has empowered Immutable to elevate its scalability, preparing to handle a tenfold increase in partnered games, as highlighted in their announcement.
While past concerns have arisen regarding the centralisation of gaming and Ethereum, often relying on market leader Amazon, which commands a significant share of the cloud services market, John posits that AWS's active involvement with Immutable's growth, onboard new game studios, and expedite global launches through the AWS Activate startup programme and AWS ISV Accelerate Program can address these concerns.
Immutable product marketing lead Michael Powell added on in the blog post:
“A lot of blockchain purists are very big into the idea of decentralisation and that everything has to be on-chain and that's a massive deviation from where game developers actually build."
Features For Players & Developers
For players, Immutable offers features such as Immutable Passport, facilitating instant digital wallet onboarding, and Immutable Checkout, serving as an all-encompassing transaction infrastructure, embodying its ambition to become a comprehensive resource for game developers in the Web3 space.
Developers, on the other hand, benefit from streamlined experiences, thanks to the capability to build and launch within days through Software Development Kits (SDKs) and blockchain data APIs.
With the integration of Immutable zkEVM, powered by Polygon, developers can confidently employ the "gold standard" for Ethereum gaming, together with its game-specific ZK-rollup, Immutable X.
This integration eradicates the need for developers to delve into new coding languages to create games.
Immutable's vision extends beyond a mere gaming platform; it aspires to be the epicentre for game developers, offering a suite of integrated products, encompassing distribution and transaction infrastructures, all securely hosted on AWS.
The collaboration between Immutable and AWS, driven by AWS's support, goes beyond platform creation; it is pioneering the foundation for an integrated Web3 gaming ecosystem.
