Ledger has unveiled its integration with PayPal's platform, allowing users to acquire specific cryptocurrencies via the Ledger Live app.
The cryptocurrencies available for purchase include ether (ETH), bitcoin (BTC), bitcoin cash (BCH), and litecoin (LTC), provided users have their PayPal accounts linked.
The integration facilitates secure and efficient transactions across the globe.
While the current scope of available tokens aligns with PayPal's offerings, Ledger's strategy includes collaborating with PayPal on potential enhancements.
Pascal Gauthier, Chairman & CEO of Ledger said:
"Both PayPal and Ledger are focused on creating secure, seamless, and fast transactions no matter where you are in the world. PayPal has remained at the forefront of the digital payment revolution for more than 20 years, and we are thrilled to come together in this next period of asset innovation with our integration"
"We're combining the uncompromising security of Ledger with PayPal’s leadership in secure payments technology to help facilitate a secure and seamless platform for user crypto transactions. Ledger is committed to simplifying the world of crypto, and PayPal is committed to making the movement of money as simple, secure, and affordable as possible. This integration provides greater optionality while giving users peace of mind converting dollars into crypto."
Transactions made through the app will be directed to a Ledger hardware wallet, consistent with Ledger Live's various alternatives.
For individuals who have previously procured cryptocurrencies via PayPal and stored them in alternative wallets, transferring these funds to a Ledger wallet address will remain a standard procedure.
CEO of Ledger, Pascal Gauthier, emphasised the shared vision of secure and swift transactions, noting that PayPal's extensive experience in digital payments over two decades and Ledger's commitment to asset innovation have converged in this integration.
