CyberKongz Unveils Bitcoin Runes Airdrop Plans Amidst Fervor for Etching

In preparation for an imminent Bitcoin Runes airdrop targeted at holders, the longstanding Ethereum NFT project CyberKongz is poised to reward its Prometheans Ordinals holders while also endeavoring to attract and onboard a new audience from Ethereum to Bitcoin.

Ahead of the Runes token protocol launch, CyberKongz's recent Ordinals collection has garnered significant anticipation for the promised token drop to holders. The recent launch of the Runes token DOG•GO•TO•THE•MOON this week hints at the potential trajectory for the rollout.

On Wednesday, holders of Runestone Ordinals assets received an airdrop of the Runes meme coin DOG•GO•TO•THE•MOON, quickly amassing nearly twice the volume of all other Bitcoin Runes combined. This surge in volume has proven beneficial for holders. CyberKongz holders are eagerly anticipating a similar outcome.

"We consider ourselves chain-agnostic," stated pseudonymous CyberKongz founding member Henry the Grape. "We anticipated a frenzied rush but aimed to secure an early Rune that resonated with provenance and culture." The team endeavored to obtain one of the first 10 Runes etchings following the Bitcoin halving last Friday. With over $500,000 in a wallet, CyberKongz sought to etch the Runes token on block 840,000 immediately after the halving, recognizing the moment's significance for the project's provenance. Surprisingly, the team secured the #2 Runes etching.

"We adopted a 'degen' mentality, prioritizing sentiment over monetary considerations," noted Henry the Grape regarding the effort and expense. "We pondered, 'How does this feel? What is groundbreaking for the space?'" In selecting a name, the team aimed to encapsulate both the essence of Web3 and CyberKongz's history, ultimately settling on the name "⚡️DECENTRALIZED"—complete with the emoji.

While most early Runes names are lengthy and unconventional due to protocol restrictions, CyberKongz opted for simplicity, with the exception of the lightning bolt emoji. "It's the only single word in the top 40 [Runes]," highlighted Henry the Grape. "Given our early presence on Ethereum, it resonated well with our project's ethos."

The team disclosed its Runes airdrop allocation exclusively to Decrypt. With a total supply of 21 billion tokens, 91% will be distributed to Prometheans holders, while 4.5% will be allocated across 20 leading Ordinals communities. The remaining 4.5% will be allocated to launch contributors.

The snapshot of Prometheans holders is scheduled to occur at block 841,269, estimated for Sunday afternoon (UTC). Of the 21,000 Prometheans assets launched earlier this month, over 18,000 were distributed to Ordinals communities.

"We carefully selected communities aligned with CyberKongz's values and the narrative of ⚡️DECENTRALIZED, emphasizing provenance and culture," explained Henry the Grape. "We utilized a weighted script called the Diamond Hand Script, snapshotting holders across various communities and basing the airdrop on holding time. It was distributed to the 1,000 wallets with the longest holding period, rewarding early adopters of Ordinals."
