菲律宾绑架问题日渐猖獗，过去不少受害人更涉及中国人，并且不少都是中国人自己人抢自己人。最近菲律宾就发生一起戏剧性事件，两名中国女性在邦板牙省被绑架者解救。此次行动由菲律宾国家警察反绑架大队（PNP-AKG）实施，逮捕了至少两名中国嫌疑人。不幸的是，一名警察在营救过程中被杀，另一名警察受伤。
两名受害者上周五在马卡蒂市被绑架，绑匪索要5000万元人民币（约700万美元）的赎金。受害者家属向中国当局寻求帮助，中国当局在中国驻菲律宾大使馆的协助下向菲律宾当局报告了这一事件。
周六，菲律宾警方确定了受害者和绑匪的位置。当天下午，他们在一处高档住宅区开展了营救行动。在行动中，中国绑匪向警察开枪，导致一名警察死亡，另一名警察受伤。
