CZ Emphasizes the Reputation Risks of Engaging in Paid Attacks

In a recent AMA session on Binance Square, Changpeng Zhao (CZ), the founder and former CEO of Binance, discussed the recent wave of criticism directed at him, attributing much of it to what is known in Chinese as “shui jun” (水军), or “water army” — paid accounts often funded by competitors to spread false information or attacks.CZ warned the community to be cautious of such accounts, which typically have low followers and are newly created. He also advised influencers not to damage their reputations by participating in paid attacks, as it is a net long-term loss.CZ further noted that some negative feedback comes from traders who lost money recently and are looking for someone to blame. He emphasized personal responsibility in trading decisions: “You press the buy button, you press the sell button. You need to be responsible for that action. Just because the button is there, doesn’t mean you need to push it.”
