OPPO will raise prices for several handset models this month, including the Reno16 series and the OnePlus Turbo 6X Pro series, by 300 yuan to 500 yuan, according to Jiemian News. Some Shanghai stores have already replaced the Reno16 price tags, and the Reno16 model has been relabeled as Reno16t. A salesperson at an OPPO store in Shanghai's Xuhui district said the company had notified stores of the price increase early in the day and that the new pricing was initially set to take effect on September 7. Another store employee said the Reno16 (12GB+256GB) still starts at 3,499 yuan, and that buyers in Shanghai can receive a 500 yuan government subsidy and a 300 yuan manufacturer subsidy. The employee added that the renamed phone's specifications would not differ much from the previous version. The move comes as handset makers have repeatedly adjusted prices this year amid sharply higher memory chip costs. OPPO was the first brand to publicly announce a price increase in March, when it raised prices across some A-series, K-series and OnePlus models. On September 1, Huawei, Xiaomi and Honor also raised product prices by 200 yuan to 1,000 yuan, and industry participants told Jiemian News that the latest round of increases may become common across the sector.
